Terms of Service

Last updated October 19, 2026. These Terms of Service govern your use of the stenograph.ai service. The service is provided by the administrator of the stenograph.ai service, reachable at [email protected]. By creating an account or subscribing, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy.

What Stenograph provides

Stenograph is an AI dictation and transcription service for professionals. It turns your speech into formatted text inserted at your cursor, transcribes uploaded audio and video files with timestamps and speaker labels, and produces meeting notes with summaries, decisions and action items from meetings recorded on your device. It is available as a website, a desktop app for Mac and Windows, a Chrome extension and keyboards for iPhone and Android. We may improve, change or replace features over time, and we keep the features listed for your plan on the pricing page available for the period you have paid for.

Your account

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract to use the service. You register with a valid email address and confirm it with a code. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity under your account. An account is for one person. Sharing an account between several people is not allowed; Team and Enterprise plans provide seats for colleagues.

For Team and Enterprise workspaces, the person who subscribes acts as the workspace administrator, manages members and accepts these Terms on behalf of the organization.

Subscriptions and automatic renewal

Stenograph is sold only as a subscription, billed monthly or yearly. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the price in effect, until you cancel. The price you pay is shown at checkout before you confirm. If we change prices, the change applies from your next renewal after we notify you by email.

Usage limits per plan

Each plan includes monthly limits on dictation minutes, transcription minutes, meeting summaries, custom terms and seats, as listed on the stenograph pricing page. Usage is counted per billing period. Deleting a transcript, a note or a term does not reduce the usage already counted in that period. Allowances reset at the start of each new monthly period, including on yearly plans, and unused allowances do not carry over. When you reach a limit, the related feature pauses until the next period or until you move to a higher plan.

Changing plans

Moving to a higher plan or from monthly to yearly billing takes effect after the difference is charged immediately. Moving to a lower plan takes effect from the next renewal.

The one-time demo

The home page offers a one-time demo so you can judge quality before paying. It is limited in length and number of uses, and its output may be shown partly until you create an account. The demo is not a plan and does not include any ongoing allowance.

Acceptable use

You agree to use the service lawfully. In particular, you will not:

  • record or transcribe other people without their consent where the law requires it, and you will inform participants that a conversation is recorded;
  • upload content you have no right to process, or content that is illegal;
  • use the service to harass, defraud or harm others;
  • attempt to access other accounts, probe or disrupt the service, or bypass usage limits;
  • resell, sublicense or share access to the service outside the seats you pay for;
  • use automated means to extract the service's output at a scale that is not normal personal or business use.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these rules, after notice where reasonable.

Who owns your content

You keep all rights to the audio you record or upload and to the text the service produces for you. You give us only the permission needed to process that content to provide the service. Audio is processed and then deleted. Text history is kept only if you leave it on, and you can delete it at any time. Your content is never used to train AI models.

Responsibility for AI output

Stenograph uses AI models to transcribe and format text. Output quality depends on audio quality, speakers, accents and subject matter, and the output may contain errors. You are responsible for reviewing text before you rely on it or send it. This is especially important for legal, medical, financial and other professional documents: a qualified professional must review and approve any such text before it is used. The service does not provide legal, medical or other professional advice.

Payments, cancellation and chargebacks

Payments are processed by our payment processor. All payments are final, as described in the Refund Policy. You can cancel at any time in your account settings. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for, and the fee for that period is not refunded.

If a renewal payment fails, we retry the charge and may pause your access until the invoice is paid. Opening a chargeback or payment dispute instead of contacting [email protected] is a breach of these Terms and leads to closure of the account. We provide the payment processor with our records of the purchase and your use of the service.

Disclaimers and limits of liability

The service is provided as is and as available. We work to keep it reliable, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error free. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, lost profits or lost data, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or any rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law.

Ending the agreement

You can close your account at any time in the account settings. We may close or suspend accounts that breach these Terms. After closure, your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. For significant changes we notify you by email before they apply. If you continue to use the service after the change takes effect, the new Terms apply; if you do not agree, you can cancel before the next renewal.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of the country where the administrator of the stenograph.ai service is established, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live. Disputes are handled by the competent courts, and consumers may also use the courts of their place of residence.
